The African American Music Series celebrates the rich heritage of African American musicians with ties to Eastern North Carolina, with a special monthly guest artist. The music series is part of the African American Music Trails of Eastern North Carolina, a program of the African American Heritage Commission, and includes the counties of Edgecombe, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Nash, Pitt, Wayne, and Wilson.

An American classical crossover soprano, Lauren Jelencovich is known for her powerful voice, elegant stage presence, and ability to blend classical technique with contemporary musical styles. She has become especially recognized for her work with composer and producer Yanni, performing as a featured vocalist on international tours and recordings. Jelencovich trained in classical music and opera, yet she performs a diverse repertoire that includes Broadway, pop and cinematic music. A dynamic and captivating live entertainer, her performances are noted for their emotional intensity and polished professionalism.

Highland Holidays presents an intimate live Scottish Christmas concert filled with Celtic vocals, fiddle, Highland pipes, festive songs, stories, Scottish winter traditions, and the celebratory spirit of Hogmanay. This family-friendly cultural experience honors the Carolinas' historical connection with Scotland through exceptional live music.

The international ensemble features 12-year Riverdance fiddle veteran Patrick Mangan, award-winning Celtic vocalist Jennifer Licko, Highland piper Cassandra Calo, Brazilian percussionist Daniel Gohn, and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Pachuta, formerly of The Embers.
