The Coastal Carolina Chapter Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is running its Fall Membership Drive from September through December 2025.The Coastal Carolina Chapter is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization and is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who want to “continue to serve” and give back to their community. Membership is open to those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or Space Force and their surviving spouses. Our focus is college scholarships for military dependents, Toy for Tots, local JROTC and ROTC units, Wreathes Across America (WWA), and other community veteran support.

Come Again is a social respite program where people in early to middle stages of dementia spend time with trusted, trained volunteers in a safe, judgment-free space. We aim to bring joy, friendship, and purpose to everyone while giving care partners a chance to rest. Activities include fellowship, music, art, movement, and service projects, plus a hot lunch. Starting May 1, Come Again meets every Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2311 Elizabeth Ave. There is a small fee to attend. Come Again honors our loved ones living with dementia by lifting up their remaining strengths in a supportive, creative and purposeful way. Navigating in a Paperless Environment Using electronic tools and charts with your cellphone, tablet and chart plotter, and getting the most from these newest techniques and technologies. Learn how to find and remain in safe water, plot a course, follow a track and drop a waypoint.
The fair will celebrate 70 seasons of family fun with exciting midway rides for all ages, Bob Bohm's Family Entertainment, visual comedian Just "JOEY," Flimsy the Clown, bicycle giveaways (8pm Wednesday - Thursday), community exhibits, educational booths, favorite fair food and more.

Carload Wednesday: Admission & unlimited rides are $50/vehicle (up to 8 seat-belted occupants).
Dollar Thursday: Admission & rides are $1 each (10-ride min. purchase).

"Outside Heaven: An Afghanistan Experience" by local author Susan McIntyre is this the book we have chosen for our second community read. This book is a memoir that provides a unique look into America’s early months in Afghanistan from the perspective of a woman, a mother, and a humanitarian.
Books will be available at the second floor desk beginning in September. There will be two chances to discuss the book. Discussions will be held at the library on: 10/2 at 6:30pm and 10/4 at 10:30am. Sue McIntyre is visiting the Library on Thursday, 10/16 at 6:30pm.

The 39th Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival is one of the area’s most popular, drawing in more than 200,000 people to Morehead City. The festival provides residents and visitors alike with great entertainment, family fun, and most importantly, the best seafood you’ve ever tasted. Food lovers have the chance to sample just about every piece of seafood imaginable or learn how to prepare their own with chef cooking demonstrations. The North Carolina Seafood Festival also features amusement rides, music concerts, a road race, pier fishing tournament, and sailing regatta. For food, you’ll find seafood such as calamari, “Down East” clam chowder, and charcoal mullet, as well as carnival classics like funnel cakes and even a wide array of desserts. Live music is offered at three different stages with continuous acts playing, all of which are free to attend. There are carnival rides and arcade games for the kids.
The Ol' Front Porch Music Festival is Folk, Americana, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Jazz… all in the walkable village of Oriental, North Carolina. Add in arts, crafts, food & more.
