Celebrate National Poetry Month at your Craven-Pamlico Regional Libraries throughout the month of April. Initially started by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, it “reminds the public that poets have an integral role to play in our culture and that poetry matters.” Join your friends at the Craven-Pamlico Regional Libraries in April and take your turn in writing an original poem that includes five random words provided by the library. The Aurora Richland Township Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the The Blue Crab Boutique and the Aurora Fossil Museum are pleased to present 'Mystery at the Venue' on April 26 and 27 from 6 pm to .... at 468 Main St, Aurora. Please come out to the Lasagne dinner and play, where you can enjoy a fun evening with family and friends and find out 'who dun it' from the right and wrong clues you will receive during the evening. Cost for the evening is $30 with proceed going to the Chamber Building Repair Project. The Unitarian Coastal Fellowship of Morehead City is pleased to announce a Social Justice Film Series about various social justice topics, from racial justice to environmental issues to LGBTQ+ rights. Showings will take place in the church’s sanctuary. All films will be free to the public, and there will be ten films in total. Check our website and social media for full list of films.

The Coastal Carolina Chapter, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is recruiting new members during its Spring Membership Drive from April 1 to May 31, 2024.
Coast Carolina Chapter is an all-volunteer, nonprofit military, veterans organization and is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who want to “continue to serve” and give back to their community. While we support MOAA’s national goals, our chapter’s focus is serving the needs of military members, veterans and their families in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Green, Jones, Lenoir, Pamlico, and Pitt counties.Membership is open to those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and their surviving spouses.
Our chapter offers college scholarships for military dependents and supports a wide range of veteran related community activities such as Toy for Tots, the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston, local high school JROTC and ECU’s ROTC programs, and Wreathes Across America (WWA).

This open house will allow visitors to experience Ayden's medical, educational, military, early toys and games, early household, religious and agricultural histories. And of course, her story of whole hog/wood cooked barbecue heritage! Work on the long awaited outdoor mural has begun and the process will be explained by the museum's creative director. Works of local artists in a variety of media are exhibited in the art gallery. Docents will be present to explain and/or answer questions in each of the exhibits. The Carolina East Singers, under the choral direction of Susan Gillis Bailey, will perform their Spring Concert on Sunday, April 28. The concert will begin at 5:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City.The 50-voice choir will be performing John Rutter’s Te Deum, O Clap Your Hands, O Praise the Lord of Heaven plus many other favorites. The choir will be accompanied by an orchestra. Tickets are $10.00. They are available from any choir member or at these local businesses: In Morehead City - First Presbyterian Church, Sea Paws, The Pool and Patio Store and Williams Hardware; and in Beaufort, Beaufort Pet Provisions. Doors open at 4:30.
