Join a member of our Education Team for basic kayak instruction and safety lessons on shore followed by a 1.5-mile paddle through the salt marsh in our sit-in cockpit touring kayaks. The program is recommended for ages 12 and up. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must know how to swim; some kayak experience is recommended. $35 ($30 with own kayak). Pre-registration required by noon the day prior. Register below. Please donate ALL through the month of May. Our Eastern NC migrant workers who pick our fruits and vegetables need long sleeve cotton t-shirts during the hot summer months. They need protection from the sun, chemicals, and cuts. Please donate new or gently used t-shirts all sizes for men and women.
Many museum artifacts provide tasty treats for a variety of insects, animals, and fungi. A big part of museum conservation is preventing damage to our artifacts, which means knowing what’s eating your collection! Join museum conservator Michelle Crepeau in this lecture all about identifying common museum pests, their impact on collections, and both historical and modern methods of mitigation and prevention.

Bring your old family photos to the Trenton Public Library on Thursday, May 9 at 4:00 p.m. and have them scanned with staff assistance. Participants are requested to bring a maximum of ten items/pictures to be scanned. Personal flash drives will be provided for scan storage.

Live Music at the Library!
The Morehead Brass Consortium will perform at the Bogue Banks Public Library on Thursday May 9th from 5:15 – 6:30pm. During a 25 minute intermission, guests can visit Spoondrift (located in the Library building), which will be open for the event.
From Rondeau (the Masterpiece Theatre theme) to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, jazz standards like Blue Moon and The Way You Look Tonight, as well as The Beatles and Kenny Rogers making an acoustic appearance, you'll learn something about a variety of musical genres and have as good of a time as the five musicians! The Morehead Brass Consortium includes Darryl Falls (tuba), Rebeccah Haines (French horn), Norm Waligora (trombone), Dave Robertson (trumpet), and Ralph Wade (trumpet).

The Gig in the Park is a spring concert series in Wilson, NC. Every other Thursday from April 11 - June 6. Join us at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park from 6 PM – 9 PM.This spring concert series is free and open to the public. Feel free to bring a chair or blanket. There will be food trucks along with beer and wine for purchase. Please no outside beverages or coolers.
Art & Surprises, a unique event hosted by New Bern Breakfast Rotary to benefit the Rotary-Habitat for Humanity partnership to build home #80 in the Pembroke Community. Guests will enjoy socializing, music, refreshments, and a cash bar during the evening. Every 15 minutes, 10 tickets will be drawn and the holder of each ticket will have a chance to select a piece of art (paintings, photography, pottery, glass, wood, jewelry, ceramic, and more!) to take home. Everyone attending gets to go home with something! Alternatively, there will be "Surprise Bags" holding gift cards, smaller art pieces, bottles of wine, or something equally interesting! Tickets for our 50/50 Raffle will be available for purchase for five prizes ($3,500 to $400). Drawing will take place on June 27 and winners do not have to be present.
The Unitarian Coastal Fellowship of Morehead City is pleased to announce a Social Justice Film Series about various social justice topics, from racial justice to environmental issues to LGBTQ+ rights. Showings will take place in the church’s sanctuary. All films will be free to the public, and there will be ten films in total. Check our website and social media for full list of films.

The Coastal Carolina Chapter, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is recruiting new members during its Spring Membership Drive from April 1 to May 31, 2024.
Coast Carolina Chapter is an all-volunteer, nonprofit military, veterans organization and is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who want to “continue to serve” and give back to their community. While we support MOAA’s national goals, our chapter’s focus is serving the needs of military members, veterans and their families in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Green, Jones, Lenoir, Pamlico, and Pitt counties.Membership is open to those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and their surviving spouses.
Our chapter offers college scholarships for military dependents and supports a wide range of veteran related community activities such as Toy for Tots, the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston, local high school JROTC and ECU’s ROTC programs, and Wreathes Across America (WWA).
