4:00 to 5:30 p.m. - Check-in & RegistrationRegistration and pick-up for t-shirts and goodie bags begins at 4:00 p.m. Then the young runners will join with our volunteer crew of Craven Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training students for games, warms up and a little coaching prior to the race events. The Children will be grouped by age category and the races will start.
RACES5:30 to 7:00 p.m. - SuperKids Fun Run will races start. The first face is set to start at 5:30 p.m. We will start with the youngest group and the other groups will start by age as the preceding race finishes. Medals will be awarded immediately after each race.
There will be five races for the following age groups: 3/4 yrs., 5/6 yrs., 7/8 yrs., 9/10 years, 11/12 years. In addition to participation medals for each runner, there will be a NRBR “GOLD” medal for the winning boy and girl in each age category.

Adults and children, lace up your running shoes for fun, exercise and a worthy cause! For over 19 years, the Neuse River Bridge Run (NRBR) has been uniting runners, walkers, volunteers and sponsors - all to support six important non-profit organizations in our community. Craven Community College Foundation, The Filling Station, Duffyfield Phoenix Project, Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina, Religious Community Services (RCS), and Twin River YMCA all benefit from your participation.
In-person 1/2 Marathon and the 10K courses feature a run over the large span of the Neuse River Bridge. All three courses, 5K-10K-1/2 marathon, include a run over the George Cunningham Bridge which spans the Trent River. Then the courses wind through a circuit around and though historic New Bern. The races all finish on East Front Street in front of the Riverfront Convention Center of Craven County in New Bern.

Join a member of our Education Team for basic kayak instruction and safety lessons on shore followed by a 1.5-mile paddle through the salt marsh in our sit-in cockpit touring kayaks. The program is recommended for ages 12 and up. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Join a member of our Education Team to discover the various plants and animals of the salt marsh and tidal flats at the Rachel Carson Reserve. The guided hike will take you through the different habitats and the sandy, muddy, and wet terrain found on Town Marsh and Bird Shoal. The program is recommended for ages 12 and up. Join us for a free 40-minute behind-the-scenes look at the Bonehenge Whale Center. Learn about the marine mammals, including bottlenose dolphins, that live off the coast of North Carolina. The preparation of marine mammal skeletons for educational display will also be covered. The Bonehenge Whale Center operates as a partnership between the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and the Carolina Cay Maritime Foundation. Come celebrate World Turtle Day! Spending only a brief time on land, sea turtles are quite different from most other turtles we know. From hatchling to adult, a lifetime at sea is no small task for these reptiles that grow so big. Learn about the different species of sea turtles that inhabit the coastal waters of North Carolina and the trials they face before they even emerge from their sandy nest. Admission is free, and registration is not required. The program is part of our Maritime Heritage Series, informal lectures held in the museum auditorium and focused on North Carolina’s rich maritime history, coastal environment, and culture. Join a member of our Education Team and Experience Outer Banks history and wildlife with a guided hike on Shackleford Banks, part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore. Participants will take a ferry to an undeveloped barrier island. This field trip requires hiking through sandy terrain for 2 to 2.5 miles. The program is recommended for ages 12 and up.
