Every First Friday of the month, many art studios and businesses in downtown Elizabeth City are open from 4:00 pm until 7:00 PM-ish for our First Friday ArtWalk! Guest artists along with food and music abound as businesses remain open later and the downtown streets come to life. Come down to see all of our local creativity; stay to dine or sip at one of our 28 independently owned pubs, coffee shops, and restaurant options downtown. The “Harbor Hopper,” ECDI’s SMV transport vehicle will be out and about to help you get from place to place. Rides given from 4:00-7:30 pm. For more info about First Friday ArtWalk, visit the Elizabeth City Downtown, Inc. Facebook page or call 252-338-4104 or email director@elizabethcitydowntown.com.

Kids’ Cove is a free-play program designed for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers with a different maritime themed craft and wiggle activity each month. This is a screen-free program meant to help caregivers connect with their little ones, each other, and their local maritime heritage. The program is designed so that participants can stay for as short or as long as they want, arriving and leaving at any time during the scheduled program. Programs do not build on each other, so you can participate in one, all, or some without feeling left out. Programs are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. and on the second Sunday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They start an hour before the museum opens to the public, allowing families to experience the museum uninterrupted.
