The 39th Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival is one of the area’s most popular, drawing in more than 200,000 people to Morehead City. The festival provides residents and visitors alike with great entertainment, family fun, and most importantly, the best seafood you’ve ever tasted. Food lovers have the chance to sample just about every piece of seafood imaginable or learn how to prepare their own with chef cooking demonstrations. The North Carolina Seafood Festival also features amusement rides, music concerts, a road race, pier fishing tournament, and sailing regatta. For food, you’ll find seafood such as calamari, “Down East” clam chowder, and charcoal mullet, as well as carnival classics like funnel cakes and even a wide array of desserts. Live music is offered at three different stages with continuous acts playing, all of which are free to attend. There are carnival rides and arcade games for the kids.

Explore the beauty of Tryon Palace gardens for free during MumFest weekend. Delight in the vibrant hues of hundreds of mums and various fall blooming plants spread across the 21 acres of the palace gardens during Garden Lovers’ Weekend.
For those eager to bring the essence of fall blooming charm to their homes, don’t miss the Fall Heritage Plant Sale on Friday and Saturday, located on the Daves House Lawn just inside the Palace main gate. This annual plant sale features a diverse selection of locally grown plants from the Palace’s nursery yard, along with a wide variety of perennials, herbs, and other fall favorites. The Fall Heritage Plant Sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days, but be sure to arrive early for the best selection, as supplies are limited.
A fun old-time variety show with great music, stories, and special guests in the style of radio variety shows of yesteryear, hosted and presented by New Bern’s favorite string band, The Bonafides.

This program is presented in collaboration with the Seacoast Spinners and Weavers Guild. Explore fibers arts from the past and present at Tryon Palace. Guild members will demonstrate the historical process of spinning and weaving, and show how raw, natural materials are made into a complete woven product. Various textile fabrics through the ages will be on display, as well as textile tools, wool samples and preps, and samples of 18th century clothing.
This event is held at the Commission House, 610 Pollock Street, just across from the Palace front gates.
