Event Description

To compliment the Museum's temporary exhibit, "Golden Pirates on the Silver Screen," that showcases props from about 20 different pirate themed movies, museum staff will show five different pirate-themed movies this summer. All programs start at 6 p.m. in the museum’s auditorium: Pirates of Penzance (1980), rated G, on May 24; Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), rated PG-13, on June 21; Peter Pan (1953), rated G, on July 12; Treasure Island (1950), rated PG, on Aug. 9; and Treasure Planet (2002), rated PG, on Sept. 13. Admission to the showings is free. While the titles are ones that appeal to families — and the series is a family-friendly one — museum Program Coordinator Christine Brin said she also hopes to attract adults by making the opening program “a little more academic, a little more adult” by incorporating information learned in designing the Golden Pirates exhibit.
