Construction for 80 income-based apartments began in Jacksonville over the weekend.
Springfield Park Apartments received more than $200,000 from the state’s workforce housing loan program, which aims to provide housing for low-income workers.
Several officials spoke at the ribbon cutting on Friday, acknowledging the lack of affordable housing in the city.
Another 72-unit complex is also underway on Gum Branch road.
