Pharmaceutical manufacturer expanding; bringing jobs & millions to Lenoir County

Meredith Radford

A global pharmaceutical packaging manufacturer is expanding in Kinston, creating jobs and investing millions over the next few years. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.

Gov. Roy Cooper announced in a news release Tuesday that West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. will create approximately 70 jobs in Lenoir County and invest $70 million dollars in its expansion to Kinston.

Headquartered in Pennsylvania, the company has over 10,000 employees across 50 sites worldwide. It manufactures over 40 billion components and devices for the containment of medicines. West’s expansion to Kinston will include increased production capacity, warehouse and distribution space.

The average annual salary for the new positions will exceed Lenoir County’s overall average annual wage.

A performance-based grant of $300,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help with the company’s expansion.
