It's Election Day for some local governments across Eastern North Carolina.  Polls opened at 6:30 a.m. this morning. PRE’s Meredith Radford has details.

Voters in many counties across the region including Carteret, Lenoir, Onslow, Pitt and Wayne can cast their ballot in-person at their assigned polling place.   Anyone in line by 7:30 this evening will be able to vote.

According to the State Board of Elections website, the busiest times at polling places tend to be in the early morning and just before polls close.  Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,  face coverings are strongly recommended throughout the voting process, though, individuals will not be turned away for not wearing one.

Curbside voting and voting assistance are available for eligible individuals, including those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Voters are not required to show ID for elections this year.

You can find your polling place or check if you’re registered at the State Board of Elections website.
