Craven County Will Hold Public Workshop For Transportation Plan Wednesday

Down East Rural Planning Organization

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is working with local planning organizations to develop a transportation plan for the needs of Craven County over the next 30 years. PRE's Meredith Radford has more.

The Craven County Comprehensive Transportation Plan includes roadway, rail, public transportation and bicycle and pedestrian improvements for the county. On Wednesday (Sept. 29), a public workshop will be held at the Craven County Cooperative Extension Building in New Bern from 4pm to 7pm. According to a news release from the Down East Rural Planning Organization, the public's input is vital in developing a plan that meets the future needs of Craven County. Transportation recommendations include improvement to the Alfred A. Cunningham Bridge in New Bern and a Vanceboro bypass. Maps of the recommended improvements will be available at the meeting and at the Craven County Planning Office in New Bern. For Public Radio East, I'm Meredith Radford.
