Hurricane Larry Continues Causing Dangerous Surf, Rip Currents On NC's Coast

National Weather Service

Hurricane Larry is causing large swells along the coast of North Carolina — which will continue through the end of this week according to the National Hurricane Center. These swells are expected to cause life-threatening surf and rip currents.

Beachgoers should follow guidance from lifeguards and officials. According to the National Weather Service, if you become caught in a rip current, yell for help and remain calm. Don’t exhaust yourself and if you have to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore, instead of against the current, and back toward the beach when possible.
