After seeing a decline in COVID-19 cases the past few months, Onslow county is facing a critical lack of staffing in its Emergency Medical Services due to cases of the virus. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.
Onslow County Emergency Medical Services has asked for help from the state because they don’t have enough healthy employees. Ten people are out of work because of this uptick in COVID-19 cases, leaving Onslow County EMS unable to respond in a timely manner to citizens’ needs without assistance. The state is processing Onslow County’s request. The director of emergency services for the county, Norman Bryson, said he is concerned that the lack of staff could significantly impact answering emergency calls. Onslow County sheriff’s office also has workers out sick because of COVID-19. I’m Meredith Radford.
