Claudia Grisales

Claudia Grisales is an NPR congressional correspondent. She joined NPR in June 2019 from Stars and Stripes, where she covered military affairs on Capitol Hill during the first Trump administration. She also reported on the atomic veterans, which won the Society of Professional Journalists D.C. Pro Chapter's Dateline Award.

Previously, Grisales spent 16 years at the Austin American-Statesman, where she covered business news, legislation, and public safety. Her investigation into corruption at the nation's largest member-owned utility, Pedernales Electric Cooperative, won the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors award for business reporting. She was also part of a reporting team that won the Texas APME award for breaking news. 

Grisales attended the University of Houston, the University of Texas, and Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
