Randall Etheridge will tell us about his efforts on behalf of Lake Mattamuskeet with regard to rising sea level. He is an associate professor in the Department of Engineering and the Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering. He is a native of eastern NC and leads the environmental engineering concentration at ECU. His research focuses on helping communities in eastern North Carolina address flooding and water quality issues. Randall’s research team has recently been working on combining new technology with nature-based solutions to store flood waters, treat wastewater from aquaculture and municipal sources, and meet other goals such as maximizing crop or tree growth. He also led a team of faculty and students that developed multiple design options for the reduction of flooding in the Lake Mattamuskeet watershed.
