The First Annual Shine a Light on a Future Luminary Launch will take place at Lou Mac Park, Oriental waterfront on Saturday April 2, 2022 from 7:00pm to 9:00PM. Parchment floating lanterns illuminated by a battery-operated tea light can be purchased for $25.00 each. Messages can be written on the lantern such as a wish, a renewal, a memorial, or note to the universe. At dusk the women of the Oriental Woman’s Club will set the luminaries in the Neuse River to float and drift until 9:00pm. Please join us for a quiet evening and take the opportunity to meet new neighbors and visit with old friends. Proceeds to benefit Pamlico County Students and Teacher Mini-Grants. Rain date Sunday April 3, 2022. All lanterns will be retrieved to ensure no pollution to the river.
