The Salute to the Flag celebrates Flag Day, June 14, and tells to history of our national flag complete with the Flags themselves and appropriate period patriotic music. The music will be provided by the 2nd Aircraft Wing Band from Cherry Point MCAS. The flags will be presented by the Colonial Color Guard of the New Bern chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. The Color Guard dresses in various Revolutionary War military uniforms to provide a spectacular counter-point to the flags. The Featured Guest Speaker will be ADM Jay DeLoach (USN, Ret.), immediate past president of the NC State Sons of the American Revolution, speaking to the issue "What the Flag Means to me." All are invited. Due to the lack of seating in Union Point Park, you are encouraged to bring your own chairs.
