What’s the Buzz?
Jesus Christ Superstar is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final week in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas, who is dissatisfied with the direction in which Jesus is steering his disciples.
The play is a baroque fusion of styles, rock rhythm with ballad narrative, which succeed in communicating a humble theme of love and acceptance. Sacred themes are fused with ancient political history and modern sensibilities into an entirely new form of theater art. Jesus is portrayed as having human qualities, doubts, and faults, yet his crucifixion becomes all the more poignant for it.
