MST Walk and Cookout

The Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail is sponsoring 2 hour walk in the Croatan National Forest to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Mountains to Sea Trail (MST). The MST is the longest trail in the North Carolina Park system and connects natural areas and communities across the state. This walk is on Forest Service sandy roads closed to motor vehicle traffic and relatively level terrain. After the hike, the NC Coastal Federation will host a cook out at their headquarters in Ocean.

Meet at the North Carolina Coastal Federation office, 3609 NC 24 (Ocean) Newport, NC. at 0900. Parking is limited at the beginning of the hike so shuttles from the NCCF office will be necessary.

Bring: Comfortable, sturdy shoes (there are a couple muddy spots but waders not required), protection from sun and maybe an insect or 2, water and snacks, walking sticks, and other personal items. There is a rest room at the NCCF office but not on the walk.
