Several agencies including the Kinston Fire Department, Kinston Police Department, and Lenoir County Emergency Services, among others, looked for a potential drowning victim in Kinston on Friday afternoon. According to a news release, an eyewitness told officials he saw a white woman with short hair along the bank of the Neuse River reach into the water to grab a bag. After that, he didn’t see her re-emerge from the river. A search began around 2 pm using rescue boats and sonar. The release said the search was suspended at 4 p.m. due to not having enough evidence for a missing person report. Anyone with more information about this incident is asked to call 252-559-6118.
