Osvaldo Golijov’s “Falling Out of Time” song cycle — a musical tour de force focussing and grief and renewal — has been released by Circle Records. The Grammy-winning Silkroad Ensemble first performed the original work a year ago and since then has been getting rave reviews.
The poignant work is based on David Grossman’s book about a couple grieving the death of their child. Host Robin Young visited Golijov at his home last fall before “Falling Out of Time” debuted, and he told her that he knew he had the passion and intensity of the story right when he could feel it.
