U Visas Should Protect Undocumented Immigrants. But Are They Working?

Undocumented immigrants who’ve been victims of crimes in the U.S. can apply for a special protection called the U visa. It lets them stay in the country and grants them a path to citizenship.

But advocates fear more people who could qualify for the U visa are being detained and deported.
