The small-town Redwood Falls Gazette in Redwood Falls, Minnesota — population 5,254 — removed the online version of an obituary that went viral earlier this week. It read, in part, “She will not be missed by Gina and Jay, and they understand that this world is a better place without her.”

Thousands weighed in on whether they thought the harsh send-off was appropriate. Here & Now‘s Robin Young talks with Heather Lende, who wrote a book about obituary writing.
