Mennonites Mourn Michael Sharp, Whose Faith Guided His Humanitarian Work

The death of American United Nations worker Michael Sharp was a tragic loss for Sharp’s friends and family, as well as for the U.N. and the broader community of humanitarian workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sharp is also being mourned by Mennonites. A former worker with Mennonite Central Committee and Mennonite Mission Network, Sharp comes from a long tradition of international humanitarian work common among members of his faith.

Sharp was found dead in the DRC last month, along with his Swedish colleague Zaida Catalán and their Congolese interpreter, Betu Tshintela.

Here & Now‘s Robin Young speaks with the Mennonite Central Committee‘s (@mccorg) Bruce Campbell-Janz about Sharp and Mennonites.
