It would be reductive to describe P.S. Eliot as a footnote in the careers of Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield and her sister Allison (Swearin', The Fizz). Instead, the group should be seen as a springboard that offered the twins a head-first leap into the life of professional musicianship. Five years after P.S. Eliot's dissolution, the Crutchfields have joined with guitarist Will Granger and bassist Katherine Simonetti to celebrate a reissue of their entire recorded output. Both of P.S. Eliot's full-lengths, a few EPs and countless demo recordings make up the extensive compilation 2007-2011, and it's easy to hear why the group became beloved by so many in such a short time.
As a warm-up for their string of reunion shows — including a date this weekend at the New Alternative Music Festival in Asbury Park, N.J., organized by Don Giovanni Records — P.S. Eliot stopped by WXPN's studios in Philadelphia to record a live session for the Indie Rock Hit Parade program. This was the first time the band had ever recorded a set for a radio show and, given the jammed schedules of each member, it might well be the last. (But we're looking forward to being proved wrong.)
