Florence Welch, the charismatic lead singer of Florence + The Machine, joins World Cafe today as guest DJ. The band's new album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, comes out Tuesday.

Florence + The Machine, with a big sound to match Welch's voice, was a hit right from the beginning — its 2009 debut Lungs and 2012 follow-up Ceremonials both topped the charts. On this episode, Welch discusses the break between Ceremonials and this new album. As guest DJ, she selects a few tracks from How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, but also discusses some of the other music that, as she puts it, "amazes" her. Among other insights, she offers an interesting perspective on how she came to be a Kate Bush fan and describes why she loves Arcade Fire.

Listen to the full conversation at the link above and check out Welch's picks via the Spotify playlist on this page.
