Panel Round One

PETER SAGAL, HOST:

Right now, panel, it's time for you to answer some questions about the week's news. Kyrie?

O'CONNOR: Yes sir?.

SAGAL: Ride services like Uber are great for a bunch of reasons. They're easy to book, you pay on your phone, there's that exciting will I be kidnapped tension?

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: But according to the New York Times Style Section, which is always just one step ahead when it comes to new trends, there is a downside to Uber. Ubers are terrible for what?

O'CONNOR: Car services are not good if you want to get frisky.

SAGAL: That's exactly right.

(SOUNDBITE OF BELL)

SAGAL: Uber is not good for backseat hookups. Now everybody loves a spontaneous romp in the back of a taxi. When it happens, you can't keep your hands off each other no matter what it smells like back there.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: The problem is, you see, with Uber it may smell better, but the driver has all your information because you registered it with Uber when you called him. You're not just some anonymous horny person, you're Hillary@Clintonemail.com.

(LAUGHTER)

FAITH SALIE: But, you know, when you go on Uber, afterwards there's a five star rating...

SAGAL: Right.

SALIE: ...And they ask you, you know, to rate your driver, but your driver rates you too.

SAGAL: Precisely. That's another risk.

SALIE: Right, so if you're hooking up and you're bad at hooking up, you're going to get like...

SAGAL: Yeah.

SALIE: ...Maybe you might've had a one star trip.

SAGAL: I know.

SALIE: That's bad.

SAGAL: It's like, oh yeah, this passenger was solid tipper. Kind of quiet, but something of a selfish lover.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "BACK OF A CAR")

BIG STAR: (Singing) Sitting in the back of a car.

SAGAL: Coming up, there's nothing new under the sun. It's an old-school Bluff the Listener Game. Call 1-888-WAIT-WAIT to play. We'll be back in a minute with more of WAIT WAIT ...DON'T TELL ME from NPR. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
