Legendary songwriter Gerry Goffin died yesterday at his Los Angeles home. He was 75.

Along with his then-wife and songwriting partner Carole King, Goffin wrote hit songs for top artists of the 1960s and ’70s, including James Taylor, the Shirelles, the Drifters, Aretha Franklin, the Beatles and more. Among the songs Goffin penned are ”Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “Locomotion” and “Natural Woman.”

Goffin and King were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame together. In a statement, King called Goffin her “first love” and said, “His words expressed what so many people were feeling, but didn’t know how to say.”
