Hundreds of people are displaced after their homes were damaged or destroyed during last week's tornadoes.  This week on the Down East Journal, an in-depth review of the storm that impacted eastern North Carolina and the efforts underway to help residents recover.  And despite a cold winter, experts are predicting a bumper crop of strawberries this season.  Those stories and more, Friday at noon on all of the PRE stations.  And Saturday at noon on News and Ideas.

An Eastern North Carolina native, Jared began his professional public radio career at Public Radio East while he was a student at Craven Community College earning his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. During his 15+ years at Public Radio East, he has served as an award-winning journalist, producer, and on-air host. When not at the station, Jared enjoys hiking long trails, tending his garden, stargazing on clear nights, and sharpening his culinary skills in the kitchen.
