Foundation To Pay Military Death Benefits During Shutdown
The partial government shutdown has forced the Pentagon to delay payments to the families of troops killed while serving in the U.S. military. Normally these families would receive a $100,000 payment three days after the death of member of the Armed Forces. More than 20 have died since the shutdown began. A private, non-profit group called the Fisher House Foundation will pay the death benefits during the shutdown.

'Tornado Emergency': A Rare, Dire Warning Born In Oklahoma
The warning is issued by forecasters in the deadliest of situations. It was first used during a storm eerily similar to Monday's. It was 1999 and the Norman, Okla., office foretold a twister that left 46 people dead and injured 800.
Storm Brings Blizzard To Wyoming And South Dakota
Heavy snowfall and low visibility have combined to cause crashes and shut down roads. As of Saturday morning, blizzard conditions were still being reported near Badlands National Park.

Small Businesses Get One-Year Delay In Health Insurance Process
The Obama administration says it is delaying until November 2014 a requirement that small businesses shop for health insurance via the troubled federal HealthCare.gov site, which has been blamed for many problems since its launch last month.
Early Warnings Saved Lives In Weekend Storms
The death toll from Sunday's tornado outbreak across the Midwest stands at eight. Many of those who witnessed the devastation say they're shocked that number isn't higher. Early warnings delivered by text message may have helped limit the casualties.
