Wikimedia Commons

Town of Mount Olive municipal elections and early voting for the May 17 Primary are underway in Wayne County. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.

Wayne County has two one-stop early voting sites, one in Goldsboro and one in Mount Olive. As of Friday afternoon, over 2,400 voters have cast their ballots in the county.

Two candidates are running for District 1 of Wayne County’s Board of Education, and three candidates are running for District 4.

The Town of Mount Olive has two candidates running for Mayor, including incumbent Kenneth Talton.

One person is running unopposed for the Mount Olive Town Commissioner at-large seat. Two candidates each are running for Districts 1, 2 and 4, and one candidate runs unopposed for District 3.

Municipal elections in Mount Olive were moved from last year to now due to delayed census data and redistricting.
