Gov. Roy Cooper signed an executive order Wednesday formally establishing a State of North Carolina Joint Cybersecurity Task Force. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.

Several North Carolina state agencies and the national guard make up the Task Force, which supports and assists state and local agencies and educational entities that have been the target of cybersecurity threats.

Executive Order 254 encourages public and private sector entities to work with the task force on identifying vulnerabilities and reporting significant cybersecurity issues.

According to a news release, this executive order comes as cybersecurity attacks are increasing, requiring a need to protect information. Systems that provide communication, energy, transportation, and water treatment are some of the public resources the task force is prioritizing.
