A boat repair facility in Carteret County was destroyed by a fire early this morning. According to a news release, the Beaufort Fire Department responded to a call around 2:45 a.m. Atlantic Beach, Harkers Island, Morehead City, and North River Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene as well as Beaufort EMS and the Carteret County Fire Marshal’s Office. The news release said firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by around 6 am, but the boat repair shop on Radio Island was a total loss. No injuries were reported. The Carteret County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
