Duplin County offering cash cards for first COVID-19 doses

Duplin County Health Department Facebook

Duplin County’s health department is offering a cash card to anyone receiving their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. PRE’s Meredith Radford has more.

Those who get their first dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine at the health department will get a card worth $100 dollars. Drivers of those getting their first dose will receive $25 dollars. Duplin’s health department gives first doses on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., according to a news release. Anyone 18 years old or older is eligible, and appointments are not needed.

The county reported earlier this week that 51% of their population had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 47% were fully vaccinated. These numbers fall well below the state’s 71% who have had one dose and 67% who are fully vaccinated. Duplin County participated in the state Summer Cash Card program in August, which also offered $100 dollars to people getting their first dose.
