The City of Jacksonville says the Freedom Fountain is working again after a soapy substance was added to the water Tuesday night causing it to foam. On Wednesday morning, city crews were at the site cleaning the fountain and assessing the damage. Lisa Miller, Jacksonville's media services manager, told PRE that the city estimates the cost of the clean up to be between $500 and $1000. The city is working with police department to access security footage to determine who is responsible for the vandalism. The Freedom Fountain on New Bridge St. was dedicated in 2012, and honors all who pass through Onslow County in service to their country.
