Nearly all 10,000 employees at state-operated healthcare facilities are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. According to a news release from the NC Department of Health and Human Services, 16 individuals were dismissed for non-compliance with the mandatory vaccination requirement that went into effect September 30th. About 6% of employees at state-run healthcare facilities received a medical or religious exemption. The system implemented a vaccine requirement shortly after North Carolina health systems and health care organizations announced the need for mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations. There are 14 state-operated healthcare facilities in North Carolina, including facilities in Greenville, Kinston, Goldsboro, and Wilson.
