Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune began issuing warning letters to people who trespass on Browns Island Wednesday, according to a press release. Browns Island has been a training area for the base since the 1940s. The press release said individuals continue to endanger their lives by going into this area, despite it being off limits to the public which is made clear by warning signs around the island and its waterways. Trespassing on Browns Island is against several laws and regulations and can result in a misdemeanor. For more information about off limits areas and restrictions you can visit Camp Lejeune’s website.
