Doctors and clinicians across the state are increasing telehealth services to treat their patients while protecting them from COVID-19, according to Dr. Mandy Cohen, Secretary for the State Department of Health and Human Services Mandy Cohen. At a briefing Thursday, she said telehealth allows people to use a computer, smart phone, tablet, or other device to receive a range of healthcare services remotely.
“Staying home doesn’t mean you have to ignore the things that need medical attention, and actually, staying healthy is always important. Right now, it can also help reduce the risk of serious illness from COVID-19.”
All insurance companies in North Carolina, including Medicaid and Medicare, are covering healthcare visits through telehealth. Cohen recommended those without insurance get coverage through Healthcare.gov.
