Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Environmental Affairs Department and Duke University are conducting shoreline research along the Neuse River beginning this week. According to a news release, the project involves temporarily placing about 50 settlement plates in the proximity of the air station's shoreline. Officials say the devices are likely to be exposed at certain tidal cycles, and they’re asking individuals to not disturb the settlement plates.
