The public will have the opportunity to see demonstrations of newly certified voting systems this month. A press release from the state Board of Elections says the demonstrations will take place at five locations across the state, beginning Thursday in Haywood County. Demonstrations later this month include next Tuesday in Leland in Brunswick County and then Wednesday the 18th at the Pitt County Agricultural Center in Greenville. There will also be demonstrations in Guilford and Mecklenburg Counties. Elections systems produced by Clear Ballot, Elections Systems & Software and Hart InterCivic will be on display. Karen Brinson, the executive director of the state Board of Elections, said all three systems use paper ballots and allow all voters to cast ballots independently. There will be two demonstration sessions at each site.
Demonstrations in Pitt County take place at the Pitt County Agricultural Center Auditorium on Sept. 18 from 0930-1100 and again from 1130-1300. Demonstrations in Brunswick County take place at the Leland Cultural Arts Center on Tuesday the 17th from 1000-1130 and 1200-1400.
