The city of New Bern is warning residents about a door-to-door scam. George Olsen has more.
The city of New Bern says it has received several complaints from residents who have been contacted by sales people claiming to be from water filtration or treatment system companies providing incorrect information about water quality. Those complaints say some of the salespeople have represented themselves as working with the city or have posed as city employees. City of New Bern officials say city staff would only arrive at a home or business unannounced in an emergency, and then they would have arrived in a city vehicle and would present city-issued photo ID. Anyone receiving a suspicious visit should dial the New Bern Police Department’s non-emergency number 633-2020. I’m George Olsen.
