An agreement announced today (Thursday) could bring a wood pellet export facility to the Morehead City port. George Olsen has more.
A press release from the state Department of Transportation says an agreement has been reached between the State Ports Authority and WoodFuels LLC that could allow construction of a wood pellet export facility in Morehead City. The proposed $25 million export facility would receive, store and load wood pellets for European export. The facility would receive its first pellets for shipment in late 2014. DOT says on average the 20-year agreement would add $840,000 annually in ports operating revenue and would support at least 150 direct and indirect jobs in the state. I’m George Olsen.
