Pamlico Musical Society Presents Young Artist Recital
Selected by Midori to perform in this Young Artist Recital, Nathan Meltzer, violin, and Umi Garrett, piano, are highly acclaimed classical soloists, orchestral and chamber musicians on the world stage. Both child prodigies and recent Julliard School of Music graduates, Garrett began playing piano at the age of four and released her first album at the age of nine. Meltzer began playing violin at the age of 8 and is a student of Li Lin and Itzhak Perlman.
This performance is made possible in part by the non-profit organization Partners in Performance, which awarded the Pamlico Musical Society a concert by Midori, presented last season, and this season’s Young Artist Recital. Founded by Midori, Partners in Performance aims to energize interest in classical music, specifically in smaller communities in the United States outside the radius and without the financial resources of major urban centers.
