ECU Health is warning patients to look out for a new email scam targeting their online medical portals.
Hospital officials say cybercriminals are sending out phishing emails designed to look like official MyChart notifications, often using the subject line "Your MyChart Medicare Kit Awaits." Health system officials said these messages are fraudulent and are intended to streal personal and financial information.
Patients are urged not to click any links, open attachments, or reply to the messages. Instead, health officials said anyone that receives and email should file a report with the Federal Trade Commission and delete it immediately.
