The Carteret County Board of Elections is calling on people to help keep democracy running smoothly this fall.

National Poll Worker Recruitment Day is Tuesday. Local election officials are seeking to hire precinct workers to staff voting locations across the county.

Duties include setting up equipment, verifying registered voters, and assisting community members at the polls. Training sessions will take place ahead of the fall General Election.

Roles are available as paid positions or as volunteer community service. More information about how to apply is available online at the Carteret County elections website; people can also register in person at the Board of Elections office.
