The U.S. Coast Guard pulled off a successful rescue near Core Sound after a solo fisherman failed to return home, prompting a worried call from his family.

Officials said the incident is a reminder for boaters to always file a float plan, check the weather, carry reliable communication gear, and dress for the water temperature.
