Town of Atlantic Beach to install automated license plate readers

The Town of Atlantic Beach will soon install automated license plate readers in an effort to improve safety.

The town council approved a contract with security firm Verkada to install two cameras at the Atlantic Beach Causeway, at a price tag of just over $11,000.

Officials said the cameras are being funded by an anonymous donor.

An activation date for the cameras has not yet been announced.
