Line break sends 500,000 gallons of untreated wastewater into east prong of Slocum Creek in Havelock

A half-million gallons of untreated wastewater spilled from a broken underground line in Havelock on Sunday.

The spill was found in the woods, the marsh area behind the plant and the east prong of Slocum Creek.

City Manager Chris McGee said cleanup is underway.
