Fort Bragg in North Carolina is one of 10 bases that are named after Confederate military leaders.
Fort Bragg in North Carolina is one of 10 bases that are named after Confederate military leaders.

The name "Fort Bragg" has been removed from access signs outside the installation.

The Army base will be renamed Fort Liberty by the end of the year; it’s one of nine military installations named after confederate soldiers that the Department of Defense will rename.

Fort Bragg is named after Braxton Bragg, who was a general in the Confederate Army.

The name change is expected to cost more than $6 million.
